Double Glazing

Double Glazing

Challenge

A customer called regarding a large double glazed unit which had failed allowing condensation to build between the panes. This is sometimes referred to as a window that has “broken down”. A broken down unit can easily spoil a view!

The glaziers surveyed the job and measured and an estimate was sent. The price included the extra glaziers required to manoeuvre and lift the unit into place due to its size and weight.

Solution

The customer agreed the price and unit was put into production. Toughened safety glass was required due to the size of the panel and it was ordered. Toughened glass takes longer to process and therefore the unit took approximately 10 days to be delivered.

We arranged to fit the glass and, as estimated, four glaziers did the fitting.

The results spoke for themselves.

Emergency Glazing

Emergency Glazing

Challenge

We were contacted by a managing agent of a retail premises in Brighton that was being refurbished. The shop front had been vandalised overnight and the window broken. Although the premises were secure, the broken window, which was at street level, was a health and safety risk to passing pedestrians and a further security risk.

Solution

We were asked to do an emergency board up to make safe the window and our glaziers did this the same day we received the call. Following acceptance of the quotation, the glass was cut and we returned to reglaze the window. This would have taken 4 of our glaziers to ensure health and safety for the public and our own staff.
